I am a teaching artist with the New York based arts education organization Community Word Project, working with young people to explore how creative writing can be a tool for personal expression as well as part of the effort in movements for justice. Outside of New York City public school classrooms, I also teach and facilitate writing workshops at the college/adult level. I have lectured at City College, speaking to journalism students about blogging, personal essay, and cultivating a voice, and led a group of Barnard women through a workshop that focused on race, gender, and sexuality through poetry and prose. My original workshop, "Writing the Self: Our Stories, Healing, and Magic for Change," was offered at the 2016 Cultural Organizing for Community Change conference and at The New School's teach-in on inauguration day, Not Going Back: Building Community, Resilience and Power in the Wake of the Trump Presidency.
If you have an event coming up for which you need a writing workshop facilitator, or you'd like one-on-one help with some of your own work, please send me a note!
